prores_ks vendor: apl0 or ap10 ?

Christian Ebert
Hi,

man ffmpeg-codecs recommends apl0 as prores_ks -vendor:
http://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-all.html#Private-Options-for-prores_002dks

whereas the WIKI says ap10:
https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Encode/VFX#Prores

Which one is it?

I've seen both ap10 and apl0 in the wild, presumably based on exactly the same misreading of indistinct fonts, but it doesn't seem to matter anyway.
And if it is in the documentation, you are recommending it.

Again. It is not recommended at all, it is just mentioned.
Stop spreading lies.

I don't know if you have the slightest idea how offensive you're being - perhaps it's a language problem, so I'll give you the benefit of not much doubt. Even so, you should know that what you're saying is the sort of thing that would ordinarily get people thrown out of meetings or dismissed from jobs. Really, you shouldn't do that.
And again, if you're putting it in the documentation, you are recommending it. If you don't want to recommend it, fine, take it out of the documentation.
What you're overlooking here is that I'm trying to help you, and yes, you do very definitely need the help.

Thank you for the clarification.

Indeed, it is more a biblical apple temptation, albeit, at least
in my experience, without any consequences ...

This is very offensive behavior from you. I'm simply stating fact that
you are not
telling the truth when saying that FFmpeg recommended to change
default vendor string
in encoded ProRes bitstream.
If you still wish to reinterpret reality differently and in that
process divert our users
out from real solutions, I kindly ask you to not do that.

Typo was in wiki written by some other people. Not part of official
documentation.
Wiki entries and modifications are not reviewed by any means. Anyone can add
entry, and entry can have issues/typos.

Do you ever see word recommended in FFmpeg documentation, in this prores case?
The actually recommended value is default one.
By your reasoning any value that can be set is recommended one.

That's what you think you're saying. Paul, you have the manners of an angry rhinoceros.
