different of spped encoding with 2 pc

Pierpaolo Gullˆa
Hi guys ,

I'm testing ffmpeg and other software on 2 different machine:
1) the laptop has amd 64 3200+ (2000 mhz) , with 512 mb of ram and 60 Gb
5400 rpm HD , with debian etch desktop I386 and ffmpeg installed via
apt-get and normal repository and this output for ffmpeg

 ffmpeg -version
FFmpeg version SVN-rUNKNOWN, Copyright (c) 2000-2007 Fabrice Bellard, et al.

ffmpeg      SVN-rUNKNOWN
libavutil   3212288
libavcodec  3352578
libavformat 3345152

2)a desktop with amd 64 bit X2 (2 core each one to 2000 mhz) 2 Gigabyte
of ram and 160 Gb 7200 rpm , with debian lenny I386 with minimal install
(no desktop or other things) , ffmpeg installed from normal lenny
repository and his output is this

ffmpeg -version

(Debian 4.2.2-4)
FFmpeg UNKNOWN
libavutil   3212544
libavcodec  3354624
libavformat 3408128

If I encode the same avi files (xvid 320x240 , mp3 and avi
container) in the laptop I have 120 fps of speed encoding , if I use the
more powerful desktop I have 40 fps!!

I try with more clip and the results are the same!!!

The laptop it's more fast!!!
It's impossible , I must to have a problem in the ffmpeg in the desktop
machine.

Can help me please?
