command to detect the type of frame in MPEG?

HI
     
       i am new to this group .can anyone help me to know the  "command to detect the type of frame(I,P,B) in a Group of Picture(GOP) of MPEG video".

         how can i know the  version of the mpeg video like MPEG-1 ,MPEG-2,MPEG-4 etc ..

Hi,
for the type of video codec used in a file simply try:
ffmpeg -i <input_filename>

and read the output on stderr.

To see the type of each frame you can try the ffprobe utility:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffprobe

(you need to download it and compile from sourceforge SVN).
