Output ffplay sound to a specific device

Paul R
Hello,

Is there a way to play a local .mp3 sound to a specific device from
following command line result ?

ffplay -list_devices true -f dshow -i dummy

[dshow @ 0000004df5379d00] DirectShow audio devices
[dshow @ 0000004df5379d00]  "CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)"
[dshow @ 0000004df5379d00]     Alternative name
"@device_cm_{33D9A762-90C8-11D0-
BD43-00A0C911CE86}\wave_{CE736DFC-274D-43D5-BB9A-C24DD4D5EFBA}"
[dshow @ 0000004df5379d00]  "Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)"
[dshow @ 0000004df5379d00]     Alternative name
"@device_cm_{33D9A762-90C8-11D0-
BD43-00A0C911CE86}\wave_{C07CBA52-C26F-46E7-8153-F5A889EEEDE4}"

Also, is there a way to only play sound, not the video if input is a .mkv ?

Thanks in advance,

Best regards

ffplay uses SDL for audio output (not dshow), this article may belp:

There is an ffplay option "-vn"

Thanks for your answer.
Is there a way to do something similar to the "-i audio=" or "-i video="
option, but for output ?

ffplay -list_options true -f dshow -i video="Logitech HD Webcam C270"

Please find out what top-posting means and avoid it here.

ffplay is not really rich with features. If you want more options, try
a different player, such as mpv. It can query audio devices, and you
can specify the desired Windows driver/device with a syntax such as
"wasapi/device name or GUID".

Cheers,
Moritz
