Cropping and resizing in one pass?

Giskard
Hi all,

I have a video with 720x576 resolution. It contains a movie in 16:9
format, thus there are two black borders on top and at the bottom of the
video. I would like to cut the two borders and then resize the video to
368x208 (for my PSP).

Is this possible in one pass? Can someone please give me an example
ffmpeg command for this?

Many thanks,
Michael

Yes, and there is nothing special. Just pass the -croptop and
-cropbottom options with appropriate sizes, and then -s 368x208, in that
order.

Many thanks! I had those two options in the incorrect order I think :-(.
No wonder that it did not work *doh*.

Do I always have to provide absolute values for the croptop and
cropbottom or is there some option to specify that ffmpeg should crop to
16:9 independent from the source resolution?

Again many thanks,
Michael

As far as I know, you have to do the maths yourself. To discover how
much to crop I use avidemux.
